Search for Vice Chancellor
for Economic Development

The University of Arkansas is at the heart of one of the fastest growing regions in the nation. Northwest Arkansas is a hub for innovation, home to multiple Fortune 500 companies and a thriving art scene that are all steps away from outdoor adventure in one of the most beautiful areas in the country. The U of A is the state’s only public, top-tier research university and boasts an enrollment approaching 28,000 with annual research expenditures exceeding $172.5 million. Founded in 1871 as a land-grant institution, the state’s first public university continues its core mission of teaching, service and research and is classified by the Carnegie Foundation among the top 3 percent of U.S. universities with the highest level of research activity. The U of A’s economic impact contributes more than $2.2 billion to the state economy each year. And with 10 colleges and schools and more than 50 research centers and institutes, the University of Arkansas is poised to grow its collaborative and innovative research and land-grant mission well into the future.

And it all happens here in Fayetteville, which was recently named 4th among the “Best Places to Live in the United States” by U.S. News and World Report.

The university is in an exciting time of growth in its nationally recognized research mission, and is seeking outstanding candidates for the position of Vice Chancellor for Economic Development (VCED). This VCED will replace the inaugural holder of this position. They will build on recent successes including record numbers of invention disclosures, provisional and non-provisional patent applications, and patents issued for University of Arkansas innovations.
