Chancellor's Update 1-21-21
More News on Vaccines
January 21, 2021
Dear U of A Employees:
By now, all employees should have received a letter confirming eligibility to receive a COVID-19 vaccine as an employee of the U of A under Phase 1-B guidelines. This letter details what steps you can take to schedule a vaccination appointment with participating pharmacies and providers.
In addition, we’re working to provide mass vaccination clinics on campus by appointment. U of A Emergency Management is currently reaching out directly to eligible employees, in a prioritized manner based on the individual’s age, regarding appointments and next steps. You can find an overview of this process online.
Last week, we mentioned that we would provide a link to Collier Drug Stores to make appointments. But that plan has been revised. We are now reaching out to employees individually and relaying that information to Collier’s to schedule appointments.
Please remain patient as it will take several weeks to get everyone vaccinated. But rest assured, vaccine appointments will be available for all eligible employees who want one. If you do not immediately hear from us, please don’t panic. We’ll get to you!
For the latest news and updates on vaccinations, please continue to visit the vaccine portion of the campus spring guide. As with everything COVID-related, the situation can change quickly.
Upcoming Panel Discussion – Jan. 26
I’d also like to encourage the entire campus community to register for a virtual panel discussion from 2–3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26. The discussion will address our spring response to COVID-19, provide an overview of the vaccine rollout, and examine how the pandemic may impact summer and fall planning, among other topics. Provost Charles Robinson will facilitate a conversation among panelists who include:
- Terry Martin, senior vice provost for academic affairs
- Huda Sharaf, medical director of the Pat Walker Health Center
- Flo Johnson, assistant vice chancellor for university housing
- Steve Krogull, associate vice chancellor for university information technology
- Matt Mills, director of U of A emergency management
- Melissa Harwood-Rom, dean of students
We know there are lots of questions and concerns out there, and this is a good opportunity to ask them. We will continue to keep you informed of the latest developments. If you have questions or need further information regarding the vaccination process or anything pertaining to COVID response that has not been answered by the above links, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
