Special Thanks to Our Outstanding Faculty
April 9, 2024
Dear Faculty,
As we celebrate Faculty Appreciation Week, we want to thank you for your dedication
and contributions to the University of Arkansas. Your passion and expertise are the
cornerstones of our success, and we are profoundly grateful for all that you do.
Your commitment to student success, research excellence and service to Arkansans is
allowing us to fulfill our land-grant mission as never before:
-
Student Success: Your focus on excellence in teaching, research and mentorship is the foundation of our reputation, which helps us attract outstanding students from every Arkansas county, across the U.S. and more than 100 countries. Your work helps increase our retention and graduation numbers as we provide access to higher education to ever-increasing numbers of students from Arkansas and beyond.
-
Research Excellence: We receive news nearly every day about our faculty members earning nationally competitive research and scholarship grants or awards, showcasing your commitment to innovation and discovery across all fields of study. Your work — whether in the sciences, humanities or arts — is shaping the intellectual landscape of our state and nation. You also have a positive impact on our state, regional and national economies. For instance, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office data shows that the Fayetteville Metropolitan Area saw a remarkable 144% increase in the number of utility patents granted per 100,000 people between 2012 and 2022. Your contributions to this increase have helped make Northwest Arkansas an innovation hotspot.
-
Service to Arkansans: Your service to the state is vital to fulfilling our land-grant mission. By helping businesses improve their operations, hosting public lectures and seminars, collaborating with government agencies, serving on state committees, volunteering with local nonprofit organizations and improving the lives of Arkansans in countless other ways, you are making a significant difference across the state.
To highlight the influence of your work, here’s a video featuring students sharing their perspectives about the transformative
impact you have on their lives.
Thank you for being an integral part of our university community. Wishing you a wonderful
Faculty Appreciation Week.
Warm regards,
Provost Terry Martin, Chancellor Charles Robinson and Ann Bordelon, Vice Chancellor
for Finance and Administration
