Thanking Our Staff-A Message from Chancellor Robinson and Provost Martin

October 9, 2023

Dear Staff,

As we celebrate Staff Appreciation Week, we want to thank you for all that you do for the University of Arkansas.

We’ve made a lot of news recently, setting institutional records in areas that are crucial to fulfilling our land-grant mission such as overall enrollment, number of Arkansans enrolled, scholarships and grants awarded, degrees awarded, six-year graduation rate, first-year retention rate and research expenditures. None of those achievements would have been possible without your hard work, your unwavering dedication to the U of A and our land-grant mission, and your tireless support of our students, faculty and your fellow staff members.

Visitors often marvel at the scope and scale of our operation. For most of the year, our campus community is larger than all but a handful of Arkansas cities. Simply doing the bare minimum to keep that many people fed, sheltered and safe would be a massive undertaking. But we didn’t become one of the nation’s top universities by doing the bare minimum. A reputation for student success and research excellence, a nationally renowned athletics program, an unparalleled admissions team, productive relationships with key stakeholders throughout the state and nation, top-notch health and wellness support, a vibrant community, world-class facilities, great food, beautiful grounds and a serene, secure campus that parents trust to serve as their child’s home on The Hill — these are some of the things that have made the University of Arkansas so successful. And they are all made possible by the outstanding work of our staff.

To show our appreciation, you can view a list of discounts available this week across campus, including discounts in the bookstore, UREC and more. There are several events this week that we hope will make you feel truly appreciated, valued and honored. We are looking forward to the annual Employee Awards Banquet as we recognize employees for their years of service as well as honor our Employee of the Quarter and Employee of the Year recipients. You can read more about the Employee of the Year recipients in this Arkansas News announcement.

Thank you all for helping make the University of Arkansas such a special place. It is an honor to work alongside you in service of our students and our state. Have a wonderful Staff Appreciation Week.

Sincerely,

Charles F. Robinson
