Presidents
The position of president was created during the university’s organization in 1871 to oversee day-to-day matters related to operation of the Fayetteville campus, eventually also taking on oversight of other campuses. When a system of campuses was officially created in the late 1960s, the president’s oversight grew, with chancellors at each of the University of Arkansas System campuses now reporting to the president.
